Scheduled to open in February 2013, the new terminal will create a bigger and better space for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) operations. The new terminal will have six gates, which will increase the numbers of gates at the airport to reach 13. The new terminal will span 347,000 square feet, which is almost double the space of the current terminal.
Construction milestone highlights of the new terminal include completion of the roof and almost 90% completion of glass installation. The construction team is currently undertaking work related to construction of walls for offices and conference rooms.
The new terminal will create more space for passengers to pass through security points, and spacious baggage handling areas. The second floor of the new terminal will have some retail outlets. The rental car facility, which is also being built as a part of the project, is almost complete and is scheduled to open in October 2012.
The main cross-walk canopy of the terminal will feature decorative metal ceiling panels. The exterior will be clad with curtain wall and glazing. The building will have a Fiberglass Reinforced Panels (FRP) wrapping.
