Providing more flexibility to the basketball programs and players, the new facility will be built adjacent to Gampel Pavilion on the site where the former football stadium was constructed in early 2012.

Upon completion, the new sports facility will include separate practice courts for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, locker rooms, weight rooms, classrooms, a sports medicine centre and offices for the basketball staff.

Providing a convenient sports facility to the athletes, the new sports centre will also include public areas to celebrate the history of University’s basketball, and house Husky memorabilia, along with trophies from the three men’s and seven women’s national championship seasons.

The project will break ground on spring and is expected to take about two years to complete. The University has raised $24 million till date toward the construction of the building.
