Themed on sculptural furniture, the 2012 Cabinetmakers Autumn Exhibition will exhibit furniture pieces in the original colour of the material on a podium measuring 1 x 1 x 1 metre. Incorporating a new approach in its design, the new furniture pieces are made by combining function, comfort and craftsmanship in a sculptural expression with aesthetic and narrative substance.
The sculptural furniture is presented in the company of the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen’s neo-classicist sculptures at Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen, which was designed by the Danish designer Michael Gottlieb Bindesbøll.
Incorporating classic architectural elements in its design, the Thorvaldsens Museum features artistic well-proportioned rooms, beautiful mosaic floors, coloured walls, ornamental friezes, stucco ceilings and elegant interior details.
In 2012 Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition, the designers like textile designer Anne Fabricius Møller, the younger designers Rasmus Trampedach, Rasmus Fenhann and Rasmus Bækkel Fex and the Swedish design duo TAF, a.k.a. Gabriella Gustafson and Mattias Stålbohm will exhibit their products. In addition to the guest exhibitors’ five sculptural prototypes, the exhibition also includes 36 furniture sculptures by the association’s permanent members.
Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition involves 68 furniture manufacturers and designers who jointly implement innovative craftsman-like designs. The exhibition has been taking place in Copenhagen since 1981.
The 2012 Cabinetmakers’ Autumn Exhibition will be held from 2 November-2 December 2012.
