Located at 6 Agar Street, the new six-storied office development provides 55,000 square feet of new Grade A office space in Covent Garden, which has been built for Legal and General Property (LGP).
Formerly known as the Strand Island building, the West End office development has been transformed to create a new internal structure, while preserving the listed façades on Chandos Place and Bedford Street.
Delivered as a design and build contract, the design of the facility focuses around the building’s core and features an open-air central atrium with two levels of landscaped terrace at its base. In order to create a striking visual effect, illuminated coloured glass fins also circle the levels above.
Including sustainable features in its design, the new office building features a ground floor parking area for circa 60 cycles, accessed from a separate entrance on Agar Street. Changing rooms and shower facilities are also featured.
In addition to providing a premium office space, the sustainable development has focused on creating an exceptional working environment, enhanced by the creation of the central courtyard, three levels of terracing and extensive cycle facilities. The redeveloped office building is targeting to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
UK-based Knight Frank and EA Shaw have been appointed as agents for the scheme.
