The scope of the project involves the construction of a one-storey block spanning 14,000 square feet, which will be built towards the north of the existing Emergency Department and near a new tower which is undergoing construction.
The new ED will add 17 acute care beds to the portfolio of the hospital to reach 39 beds. The new facility will also house a trauma room and a safe room. The project also involves renovation of the existing space and addition/replacement of imaging equipment with a new MRI, two 64-slice CTs, two X-ray rooms and ultrasound room in a new radiology suite.
Construction on the project is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2012 and would be completed by 2014.
