The new hospital will be developed on an approximately 15 acres site, within the campus of the St James’s Hospital. The new pediatric hospital will be a standalone unit, which will benefit from co-located adult-care hospital and proposed maternity hospital, enabling the government to round-off the health offering in Dublin.
The building will be an eight-storey complex with three below grade parking space. The level two will accommodate theatres, interventional imaging, scooping, laboratories and corporate office. On the third level, the tower will have critical care and cardiology units, restaurant, school, play deck, green roofs, and links for NICU/PICU to maternity hospital.
The level four of the building will be linked to the adjoining, proposed maternity hospital. The building will feature a green roof or winter garden on the level five. The level seven will have four wards and a 6,750 square metre winter garden. The highest floor will have educational, clinical research and restaurant space, which will encompass a total area of 6,750 square metre.
