Pursuant to the contract, the company will redevelop and build new facilities at Centralsjukhuset (the Central hospital) in Karlstad. The project will be developed in multiple phases. The phase I of the project involves construction of a new operation unit building, House 60, and substitute premises in the existing House 53 and House 54.

The new operation unit will be a four-storied facility, which will have a total area of about 29,000 square meters and include a garage. The design of the building will enable the hospital to meet a variety of needs of the patient. The company has commenced work on the site and plans to wrap up the project by mid-2016.

The substitute premises along with other facilities, will house new operation wards and reception halls. The construction of the substitute premises will commence in 2013, with completion planned for mid-2018.

The project will be developed by giving prime importance to the sustainability elements and will target for LEED Health Care certified on level Gold. Skanska intends to use sustainable materials for the construction and focus on energy efficiency of the building.
