Including various amenities as well as modern technologies, the proposed Elmont Town Crossing will be a 25,000-seat, privately-financed soccer stadium at Belmont Park racetrack in Nassau County.
Designed according to fans’ requirements, the Elmont Town Crossing will transform two sections of Belmont Park into a vibrant entertainment complex. Upon completion, it will include a 60,000 square feet area that would feature nine restaurants, some 250,000 square feet of retail space, and a 175-room hotel.
In addition to that the upscale stadium will also feature a community centre, a brand new 4.3 acre public park, soccer fields for the community, and an overpass over the Cross Island Parkway that would connect the hotel and restaurants to the stadium.
As reported in Cosmos, a smaller soccer field will also be built on the ground. The proposal also includes a commitment to beautify the nearby landscape. The site will be open to local soccer teams to practice and play on. The redesign and development of local soccer fields will cost $2.5 million, as stated by Cosmos.
The proposed development was formally delivered to the Empire State Development Corporation on 11 January 2013. Construction will be led by US-based Turner Construction.
Construction on the new stadium is expected to start as early as the first quarter of 2014 with the completion of the work by the end of 2015. The field installation and stadium opening would be by spring of 2016. Retail establishments are expected to open in the autumn of 2015.
