The 124-bed hospital undertook a renovation of its 39,745-square-feet maternity unit ward. The entire third floor has now been dedicated to maternity services.

Post renovation, the labor and delivery suites feature a fully adjustable birthing bed and an infant alcove attached to each room. Other amenities include a TV, DVD player and free wireless access.

The newly expanded rooms include private, spacious bathrooms, some of which offer specialty BainUltra air jet tubs. The air jet baths offer the expecting mother light massage with a built-in heater for relaxation. The tub is designed to be hypoallergenic in comparison to regular Jacuzzi tubs.

St. Vincent Carmel Hospital caters to northern Marion County, Carmel, Fishers, Westfield and Zionsville. To support high-risk births, the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is designated Level III by the state of Indiana, where babies get continuous comprehensive care.
