Designed by Populous, the new stadium will accommodate 40,000 fans. The project will involve demolition and disposal of the entire existing facilities and the construction of the new circa 40,000, all-seated spectator stadium.
The stadium will be designed as per the modern stadia in line with recognised guidelines currently operating within Europe. It will feature changing, training, hospitality, acoustic performance capabilites, media facilities, community rooms, third party uses, offices, and storage facilities. The stands at the stadium will feature complete mechanical & electrical installations, flood lighting, hospitality & refreshment outlets, toilets, indoor training/warm up areas, storage areas, offices, media rooms, changing/shower rooms, retail area and ticket outlets.
The new stadium will also incorporate safety mechanisms in compliance with The Safety of Sports Grounds (NI) Order 2006.
The overall project for the stadium will also involve construction of associated stadium access/ egress routes, construction of grounds-man stores, turnstiles, site works, car parking, external lighting, hard and soft landscaping a new pitch and drainage installations.
Work on the stadium is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. It will be home to hurling and Gaelic football in Northern Ireland.
