K2 Architects worked with the Liverpool ONE management team to transform existing retail space for bar and brasserie Browns and hamburger brand Byron. While K2 was responsible for the overall project to make the existing space ready for the tenants, the restaurants brought in their design teams to brand the units.
The facilitation of the restaurants by K2 involved overseeing major structural alteration works to divide the space. Escalators and lifts were removed before partition walling, stairs, concrete mezzanine decks and new structural glass shopfronts were installed. This is the largest retail unit K2 Architects has facilitated to date.
The dining outlets will occupy the former Zavvi unit on Paradise Place next to Jamie’s Italian. Browns have taken a unit of more than 6,400 square feet while Byron will occupy almost 3,900 square feet in its first North West venture. Both outlets are due to open in spring 2013.
Liverpool ONE is one of Europe’s leading retail and leisure destinations, set in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. Built around the existing streets of Liverpool, the 1.65 million square feet contemporary open-air complex includes over 160 stores, bars and restaurants, a 14-screen cinema, an indoor adventure golf course and a five-acre park.
