The $11 million project includes construction of the new facility and related site improvements, including new utilities, pedestrian shade canopies and an extension of the airport loop road. Installation of erosion control and temporary facilities to accommodate future construction phases, security features, pavement markings and signage are also included in the project scope.

The new terminal will contain baggage operations, a departure lounge with laptop stations, concessions, a rental car counter, baggage claim, ticket counters, waiting areas, restrooms, passenger screening areas and administrative spaces.

The new airport will now have two emergency generators to provide power back up for the terminal for up to 96 hours at full capacity.

Construction of the new terminal, which started in March 2012, is underway with most of the work yet to be completed. Airport authorities hope to complete work by 12 June 2013. Walbridge is serving as general contractor for the project.
