The new emergency department is triple the size of the previous department, and features 19 individual treatment rooms, with solid walls and doors for patient privacy.
In addition to that the new bigger facility also features trauma treatment rooms, dedicated decontamination rooms, GYN and sexual trauma rooms, cardiac treatment rooms, and pediatric resuscitation rooms. For the mentally weak people, the department offers a separate behavioural health unit offering accommodation for up to six patients suffering with mental diseases.
With more value addition, the new facility also includes state-of-the-art equipment for the digitalization of patient information. There is also a new entrance for outpatient care.
Laurens County Health Care System opened the new Emergency Department on 14 March 2013.
