Part of UE’s facilities masterplan, the project involves development of townhouse apartments, which will provide on-campus accommodation to 150 students. The project includes the development of two townhouse buildings, which will comprise the Frederick Commons, to be located between Frederick Street and Weinbach Avenue; and four buildings that will make up the Walnut Commons and will be located on the north side of Walnut Avenue and Rotherwood Avenue.
Each two-storey townhouse apartment will house four students and include four private bedrooms and two bathrooms. Each unit will be complete with furniture and appliances, such as washer and dryer, dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, and sink disposal. The units will have granite countertops, while the living room will have 37 inches digital flat screen TV and ethernet.
The project broke ground on 19 March 2013. Over 50% of the townhouses are expected to complete by August 2013 with others following in October and January 2014.
