Spread over an area of 19, 676 square metre, the interiors of the building depict local tribal art and aesthetics of Jharkhand State carried out by the artists of ‘JHARKRAFT.’ They feature murals portraying Dhokra art, tribal dance forms ‘Sarna’ & Chou’, mixed media in terracotta, canvas paintings in local style namely ‘Sohrai’ Jadupatia’ and ‘Paitkar’ art work with state flower ‘Palash’ displayed on internal glazed partitions.

The one and half storied RCC framed structure consists of a column beam arrangement, enabling the structure to resist both vertical and lateral loads. The roof of the terminal building has six steel umbrellas, including the entrance canopy. The roof is supported by tubular space frame, which will remain exposed in selected double height areas such as the check-in hall, baggage claim and visitors concourse on the ground floor and departure lounges on the first floor.

The terminal has various sustainable elements to meet the need for conservation of environment such as provision of energy-efficient lighting, water harvesting and use of treated waste water for flushing and horticulture purposes.

The centrally air conditioned building is equipped with flight information display system, building management system, security surveillance CCTV, intelligent fire alarm and detection system, CUTE system, LAN/IT/Wi-Fi system, public address & car hailing system, escalators, reserved lounges child care room etc.

Other salient features of the building include 700 pax peak hour capacity, 14 check-in counters, eight immigration counters, two custom counters, three baggage handling system arrival, five escalators, six elevators, and five aircraft parking bays.
