South Florida Baptist Hospital has grown over the years to meet the needs of the community. In the past few years, there has been addition of an expanded emergency centre, orthopedic unit, a centre for wound care and hyperbarics, heart and vascular services, robotic surgery, and a new breast centre.

In addition, the hospital also added a 120-space parking lot at the corner of W. Reynolds St. and Plant Ave., across from the emergency centre.

In March 2012, the obstetrics unit, also known as 3-South, received a face-lift. New floorings and ceilings were incorporated. Nurses’ station was refurbished and lobby was enhanced with wood and glass, giving the unit a more hotel-like feel.

Same aesthetics were applied to a newly renovated medical/surgical unit, 2-South, that opened this month. The entire unit has been renovated, reconfiguring 18 semi-private rooms to become 16 private rooms. Each room contains a family area, a private bath and shower, 42-inch television, and a digital white board.

Renovations will continue this summer as well. The hospital will begin expanding its surgical program with the construction of two new operating rooms in June 2013. The project will take approximately 15 months to complete.
