Designed by the architectural practice Lewis and Hickey, the Si Yuan Centre is home to the University’s School of Contemporary Chinese Studies. Drawing upon subtle references to Chinese design, the building presents a mix of charcoal standing seam zinc, black glazing and a signature red glass lantern entrance.

Continuing this interpretation internally, the design provides a tranquil and contemplative study area mixed with an exhibition gallery, library and language labs and academic offices. In addition to that it also features A+ rated office accommodation for the resident academic staff.

The RICS Awards showcase the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment, recognising the use of outstanding design and innovation in creating a successful project.
