Fullerton Island is the first project on the list. As part of renovation, Fullerton Island, a 12-acre oasis in a pocket of waterfront homes in Jupiter, will be transformed into a productive mangrove and seagrass habitat, and more than six acres of nonnative species will be removed in order to preserve it as an environmental resource and a steward of wildlife. The renovation includes the construction of six boat slips, a hiking path and a picnic area. The renovation is expected to complete by the end of 2013.

At Bert Winters Park on Ellison Wilson Road in Juno Beach, an additional 1.5 acres was acquired for use as a boat-trailer parking lot. A total of 36 spaces will be provided. Makeover plans call for renovating the two boat ramps, adding restrooms and creating a north entrance.Work will begin at Bert Winters Park in 2014, and will run for 12 months.

Burt Reynolds Park, which is adjacent to Waterfront Properties and Club Communities in Jupiter, will get 26 more boat-trailer parking spots, a dock extension and a party pavilion with restrooms. The building housing the Northern Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce will be demolished as part of the project. Work on the dock extension will begin in September, while the rest of the project will run through 2015.

Renovations to the Riverbend Park include a new entry, park office and restroom facilities. Also, a plaza with a kiosk referencing the Loxahatchee River battlefield will be included. Construction at Riverbend Park will commence in near future.

Waterway Park covers more than 30 acres next to Jonathan’s Landing and is the focus of a multiphase project that aims to attract recreational boaters. Plans also include the addition of boat ramps, floating docks, restrooms, and parking spaces for vehicles and boat trailers. Waterway Park renovations are scheduled to start in early 2015.

The project, which will run through 2015, is a joint effort of the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, the Palm Beach County Department of Environmental Resources Management, the town of Jupiter, the Florida Inland Navigation District and the state.
