Maintaining a humanistic approach architecturally and environmentally, the Cultural Centre in Sabah Al Ahmad has been designed with international standards within the Kuwaiti desert.
Its key performance spaces are expressed as dynamic forms and are designed as functional spaces. They also pay abstract homage to the distinctive profile of the dhow, a sailing ship used for many generations as Kuwait’s primary means of export.
Unified by a lily-pad roof canopy, the whole development is supported on timber columns. It creates a forest of tree-like structures within the central oasis garden.
Highlighting the rich historic and contemporary cultural activity of Kuwait, the Cultural Centre in Sabah Al Ahmad has been designed to provide state-of-the-art facilities and an inspirational home for a wide range of cultural activities practice in terms of performance spaces and sustainability.
