Formerly named as the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons, the property underwent $144 million transformation before opening as a new DoubleTree by Hilton-branded property.
Located in downtown Cedar Rapids, the new DoubleTree by Hilton Cedar Rapids Convention Complex is a full service, upscale hotel, which boasts a contemporary design aesthetic and luxury furnishings. The lobby and the public areas of the hotel feature sleek glass elements, and original sculptures and artwork.
Rendering a new feel to all the 267 guestrooms of the hotel, the renovation has added a new restaurant and bar called 350 First, which is located on the 16th floor of the hotel. The restaurant offers views of Cedar Rapids or the Cedar River.
The Bud Light Lounge offers a convenient, casual destination for the guests. The ballrooms of the hotel feature acoustic ceiling tiles that imitate a river’s flow, and are outfitted with the fiber optic technology that renders special colour effects.
In addition to that the hotel also offers an array of wellness options, which include an indoor pool, state-of-the-art 24-hour fitness centre featuring Precor fitness equipment, a 24-hour business centre, and free Wi-Fi in all public areas of the hotel.
The property was bought by the city of Cedar Rapids in 2011 as part of a grand vision to create a state-of-the-art convention centre project that also include a 9,600-seat U.S. Cellular Arena, as well as an 80,000 square foot convention complex located close to it. Featuring the advanced audio-video technology, the U.S. Cellular Convention Center offers flexible meeting space to accommodate up to 10,000 guests.
