Located at 2200 Post Oak Blvd., the 318,000 square-foot BBVA Compass Plaza will accommodate about 825 BBVA employees. Spread over eight floors, the 22-storey building also includes a flagship bank branch and innovation lab, an on-site fitness centre, a cafeteria, and floor-to-ceiling windows.
The new BBVA office has a unique contemporary design featuring vision glass which delivers panoramic views with glass curtainwall system and precast aluminum accents. With 9.5 foot ceilings, it boasts an open workspace design, replacing offices and cubicles to encourage collaboration. Various informal collaboration areas and private rooms are scattered throughout the building, which is equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled phones, enabling employees to work in a variety of settings.
The interior of the building is adorned with artwork by established and emerging artists from around the world. A Volkswagen Beetle decorated with more than two million colourful glass beads by Mexico’s Huichol Indians is currently on display in the tower’s branch till June 2013. The building also includes two new restaurant concepts – Chef John Sheely’s Osteria Mazzantini, and Chef Hugo Ortega’s Caracol.
BBVA Compass Plaza is a LEED Gold-certified building and has a highly efficient design with low add-on factors. Made with sustainable materials, the eco-friendly building incorporates green materials throughout ranging from recycled carpets to organic paints. Teleconferencing technology and a variety of meeting spaces reduce the need for employees to travel, minimising the bank’s carbon footprint. During the construction, over 75% of waste was diverted away from landfills by recycling products.
Efficient water- and energy-consumption systems and green cleaning products are also included in the scheme. Utilisation of modern chilled water HVAC system incorporating technologically advanced control system is a major highlight of the energy-efficient design.
