Designed to be versatile, the Metropolis collection features smooth and undulating pieces and light refractive characteristics. Reducing its environmental footprint, the Metropolis is made using up to 75% post-consumer recycled glass. Providing various options to the buyer, the collection is available in eight different stylish colourways like honey, amber, pearl, diamond, bronzite, noir, onyx, and buxy.
Featuring distinct glass mosaic rectangles in various widths and depths, the Trend Metropolis range can be installed as a horizontal pattern, or vertically to create an unusual perpendicular geometry.
Like the Liberty collection, the new Metropolis mosaic is composed of hand-cut tesserae in a distinctive interlocking and irregular pattern and is based on Trend’s through-body coloured glass, Karma. The deep fold lines within the body of the glass add to the visual complexity and are introduced when Karma is formed by hand into large sheets, then exaggerated during the tempering process. Each pattern is a combination of differently coloured Karma glass tiles, formed by hand with occasional higher levels of luminosity created by the Mirage 24 carat gold finish.
For ease of tile laying, Metropolis is supplied in modules measuring around 31cm x 29cm in size and 4mm thick, either pre-mounted onto the Trend+ reactive polyurethane backing system or with a clear plastic film on the face. It can also be cut into three 10cm horizontal sections to create an interlocking border.
Metropolis is claimed as frost, chemical, fade and thermal shock resistant, non-combustible and 0.20% porous to water. It is priced from £275 (4429.66) per square metre.
