Designed in collaboration with British furniture designers like Alun Heslop and Angus Ross, the Royal collection includes a chair, a crib and Cradlerock’ chair.
The chair designed by Angus Ross is made of steam- bending oak, which was sourced from the designer’s own woodland and local estates. The chair was originally designed as a commission piece to be finely balanced in a relatively upright position so that the mother can get in and out of the chair easily whilst holding her baby.
Designed to give a naturally smooth and gentle rocking action, the chair is available from a selection of materials, including Scottish oak, English walnut and English cherry.
Created to rock with almost exactly the same motion as the chair, the crib allows the baby to be rocked to sleep. Forming a safe enclosing design at the ends, the sides of the crib are steam bent to allow them to be twisted in their length. The sides are then flared out at the middle to allow easy access for lifting the baby. Designed as modern classic piece, the crib is priced at £1,650 ($2,539.56).
Specialising in sculptural seating, Alun Heslop creates pieces by focusing on anthropomorphic forms and shapes. Based upon the existing Nimm Rae chair, the Cradlerock chair concept was devised following a commission looking for a contemporary version of a cradle rocking chair. The price of the visually stunning, yet functional, Cradlerock starts from £8,000 ($12,313).
