The Castle on the Loch is a room set housed within The Mirrored House, which is designed as the gateway to the Homes and Gardens section at the Coronation Festival.

Created by KLC Alumni designers, the concept direction for the room set is by Anna Burles from Studio AB with design by Jessica Gibbons, Kat Turner and Oana Jackson of Studio Wick.

The sustainable and desirable room set is designed to engage the imagination and inspiration of viewers with new and accessible design ideas.

The room’s show piece will be the bed suspended from the ceiling draped in luxurious cottons, pillows, soft wools and silk.

A colour palette of whites set in contrast with warm woods and soft natural, tactile textures creates a welcoming feel. Dark walls and mirror add to the fantasy details.

Many design details in the room are bespoke, and are sourced from an innovative mix of materials supplied by Coronation Festival exhibitors and Royal Warrant holders. For example the deer antlers which come from Balmoral have been painted and repurposed as a clothes rail.

The team of KLC has been working since mid-February 2013 to create this room set.

The Mirrored House building will be designed to house a series of four designer room sets for visitors to tour inside and out. Its exterior will be finished in a fractured mirror effect, accentuating the exterior detail and designed to be invisible amongst the surrounding trees and gardens.

Coronation Festival is a four-day festival, the first commercial event to be held inside the palace grounds, which is staged by the Royal Warrant Holders Association. It is being held from 11-14 July 2013.
