For anyone with an interest in architecture, the names Norman Foster, Richard Rogers, Nicholas Grimshaw, Michael and Patty Hopkins and Terry Farrell are often spoken in hushed, reverential tones. These are some of Britain’s most famous architects, but they also helped change the way architecture is seen the world over.

Now, the RIBA in London is staging an exhibition which examines the huge influence buildings by these architects – from the Reichstag in Berlin to the Pompidou Centre in Paris and The Peak in Hong Kong.

The exhibition, entitled The Brits Who Built the Modern World, runs parallel with a new BBC Four TV series, which starts this Thursday (13 February) at 9pm.

The exhibition itself runs from 13 February to 27 May 2014 and is on at the Architecture Gallery, RIBA, 66 Portland Place, London, W1. Entry is free.
