British design duo Harvey & John have created an installation deigned to simulate the feeling of ‘diving into a glass of Champagne’ for the lobby of the Andaz Hotel near London’s Liverpool Street Station.
Commissioned by Champagne brand Veuve Clicquot and the Andaz hotel group, the abstract installation is called Dive into a Glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, and comprises five giant glowing spheres of which five are projected out of sculptures filled with high pressure air so that they float and bob in the air.
The five floating and 20 suspended bubbles shine brighter and radiate a glowing Champagne yellow in colour when poked, squeezed or hugged. Ranging in size from 50cm to 80cm in diameter, the eye-catching bubbles are a cool champagne colour until touched and can float up to three meters high.
Founded by Richard Harvey and Keivor John, Brighton-based Harvey & John specialises in designing interactive and ‘experiential’ installations and has clients including Microsoft, English National Ballet, Coldplay, Ford and Skype.
