Give 22 designers the same brief and – if they’re designers worth the name – you’ll end up with 22 wildly different outcomes.

A perfect illustration of this point is a project run by Danish Fabric specialist Kvadrat. The company asked 22 renowned designers to create a one-off piece using its Divina fabric – and the results could hardly be more diverse.

The 22 pieces, by designers including Bethan Laura Wood, Werner Aisslinger and Jonas’ Design are on show now at the Milan Furniture Fair (8-13 April 2014)

The responses to the brief ranged from a new version of Richard Hutten’s amazing Cloud Chair, which was designed with a desire to create a piece of furniture that reminded him of being a child and wanting to sit on clouds.

It’s made up of multiple layers of the Divina felt-like fabric and each layer was drawn up and cut separately then glued together.
