Waiting for a bus is usually among the most boring moments of everyday life – but if you happen to be catching a bus outside Hamleys Toy shop in London’s Regent Street, you may find more reason than usual to smile. For a limited time, the normal bus stop has been replaced by one made entirely of LEGO.
The amazing Lego bus stop, commissioned by Transport for London, is made from some 100,000 LEGO Bricks and was created by the UK’s only certified LEGO professional Duncan Titmarsh.
The structure took 14 days to build, as each plastic brick was carefully snapped into place to create a realistic London bus stop.
2014 marks a number of important bus-related anniversaries including the 60th anniversary of the iconic London Routemaster bus, and 75th anniversary of the RT-type bus. It’s also 100 years since hundreds of London buses were sent to the Western Front to play a crucial role during the First World War.
The LEGO bus stop will remain in place until 15 July 2014 when it will be replaced by an ordinary bus stop.
