Carsten Höller

In the run up to the gallery’s renovations in the next year or so, Brussels-born, Sweden-based artist Carsten Höller will be taking over the spaces on the Southbank. This cross-venue exhibition, in partnership with Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle, explores the career of the British sculptor and his relationship with Yorkshire. September sees the first significant British survey of Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei, an Honorary RA, at the Royal Academy. David Adjaye

In the first major retrospective of Alexander Calder’s work in the UK, visitors can look forward to his figurative wire portraits and depictions of characters in the circus and the cabaret.
