Google’s London office will be relocated to a brand new 11-story building at 6 Pancras Square and will even feature a 90 km running track. Situated in King’s Cross, the building is expected to be completed by October and will accommodate around 800 engineers and 2,000 other members of Google staff. At present, only five floors are have been built.
In between focusing on new Youtube and Android products, staff will have access to a range of amenities, including the running track and cookery classes with world renowned Chef Jamie Oliver.
Famous for their eccentric office spaces, the original building proposed in 2013 was scrapped for being too boring. . The office block has been leased to Google from BNP Paribas Real Estate, with Google’s original £1 billion plan being to build a UK headquarters only 200m away stops. As well as this new development, Google has purchased other properties in the same area, including a building beside 6 Pancras Square which will be home to Google Deepmind, an AI research lab, as well as an unknown space called ‘S2’.
