Who
FUZL Studio was founded by designer Oliver Theobald in 2017; he was later joined by two more designers: Max Harper just over a year and a half ago, and Tabatha Pearce-Chedier, a year after that.
Why
FUZL was founded to create ‘responsible, enduring, craft engineered’ flat-pack furniture that is easy to assemble and reassemble without tools – for those moving home frequently or requiring flexibility from their furnishings.
The products are designed to last, can be refurbished easily and will not be rendered obsolete by a loss of a specific assembly tool. Instead, the furniture is secured by fittings such as FUZL’s signature QIK-Clips. A product Theobald used in a job years earlier, this hard-wearing fastening was created by Clip-Lok SimPak for reusable packing boxes and packaging. FUZL’s plywood is sourced from accredited sources and managed forests, and the products themselves do not use synthetic glues or varnishings, opting instead for colourful VOC-free and food-safe oils.
What
1. Kiko table
The Kiko table is held together by the same QIK-Clip as the Originals, but used more subtly on this sculptural item. Just two clips are used here, one securing each pair of legs on the underside of the table. Kiko is available in 1,800 and 2,400mm lengths.
2. Totem
Modular shelving system with a mid-century feel. Totem is available in two widths, two standing options and one wall-mounted – but is customisable so it can fit diff icult spaces too. The boxes are built around a specific bracket, all held together by one final dowel.
3. Originals / Rotable:
Rotable’s base can be flipped to transform it from a desk or dining table into a coffee table.
The Originals collection includes benches, chairs, tables and, pictured here, ‘Rotable’, a clever dual-purpose design that can alter its base to switch between desk/dining table or coffee table.
