Weighing just 2.75 kgs, Lightly chairs are easy to move, accommodating the multitude of activities and fluctuating numbers of people we host. Lightly uses a minimal amount of material in the maximum way to deliver an incredibly strong and durable chair that has the lightest touch on the environment.
“Lightly was designed to fit the needs we see in peoples homes. Lightweight, stackable and environmental consideration was what drove the development and we are excited to see Lightly in the wild complimenting how people live.” —Chris Bisman, Lead Designer for Lightly, Formway
Lightly’s strong yet remarkably fine frame makes for super-efficient stacking. Ten chairs create a stable stack just one meter high, meaning Lightly can easily appear when needed or disappear when not required.
Lightly is made predominantly from plant-based polymers and recycled post-consumer waste materials and uses the least amount possible. Both the seat and frame are made from environmentally considered materials, where the frame is made from a bio-based polymer and the seat from post-consumer recycled waste. Lightly is the first chair to use the plant-based polymer EcoPaXX® derived from the castor bean plant, a renewable resource that is highly CO2 absorbent during its growing phase, making EcoPaXX® a low carbon footprint material compared to fossil-based materials.
“Designers have a responsibility to create furniture that fits our vision for the future, that we can feel good about owning, and that is designed to last. Those values are what lead to Lightly, and it's why we are so proud of it.”—Josh Bruderer, Designer for Lightly, Formway
Designed with comfort and postural changes in mind, Lightly’s curved back wraps, supports and subtly flexes, enhancing well-being while supporting your lumbar. The seat is contoured to fit your body, with softly sloped edges that reduce pressure build-up, leading to a healthy sitting experience.
noho products are designed by sister company Formway, a research-led studio designing seating for some of the world’s most well-known and innovative furniture brands. Formway is responsible for Knoll's internationally recognised Life, Generation and ReGeneration chair ranges. All Formway products are research and user-need driven—Lightly is no exception. The research and development was motivated by how the dining space is changing, and the outcome is a real-world solution perfect for modern life.
Lightly is the second chair in the noho product range, following the award-winning noho move™ chair launched globally in 2020. The noho move chair is designed to help us sit healthier through movement that allows people to perform their best at home or the office—without compromising on aesthetic beauty. The revolutionary, ergonomic design intuitively responds to your movement, eliminating pressure points and improving your body’s circulation and long-term comfort. noho move is the first furniture product to be made predominantly from ECONYL®, a polymer made from waste plastic from regenerated nylon from ghost fishing nets, fabric scraps and end-of-life carpets.
“With the introduction of Lightly, noho is now a furniture brand and what a way to do it. Lightly is such a lovely addition with its function that fits how people live and it’s perfectly aligned environmental credentials. We can’t wait for people to love lightly as much as we do.”—Paul Wilkison, Co-CEO noho
“We couldn’t be more excited to represent noho in the UK. Since the moment we were introduced to the architectural silhouette of their beautiful Move chair, we have been in love with noho’s passion, their values and, most importantly their promises. We are thrilled to be unveiling Lightly at Clerkenwell Design Week. We don’t think there is more relevant product on the market currently, and we can’t wait to see how it is received within the UK design and influencer communities.”—Gary Helm, Founder obo
