The programme, which is now in its sixth year, is designed to nurture ‘new and emerging talent’ and this year’s theme will be identity.

The selected designers are given a bursary to create new work in response to a brief and final designs will go on display in the Designers in Residence exhibition at the museum from 11 September 2013.

Entries are open until 28 February 2013 and the programme is open to product, furniture, fashion, graphic, spatial or interaction designers.

The Design Museum’s director, Deyan Sudjic:, says, ‘This year, the Designers in Residence 2013 programme will be based on an exploration of how design in any field can be used to convey, to create, or to reflect a sense of identity. We invite product, furniture, fashion, graphic, spatial or interaction designers to explore these ideas in an object, an environment or an experience for their proposal.’

Previous Designers in Residence include Giles Miller, Asif Khan and Bethan Laura Wood
