SportsPanel has achieved the highest rating for impact resistance in a recent test, confirming its robust construction and adding another attribute to its CV.
SportsPanel is a ceiling panel designed to absorb high levels of reverberant noise. Primarily fixed to the underside of a roof, its front face can withstand impact from sports equipment such as basketballs, making it particularly suitable for use in areas such as sports halls and gyms, educational buildings, leisure facilities and village halls. It can also be installed into a conventional suspended ceiling grid system.
SportsPanel achieved Class 1A when tested for impact resistance in accordance with BS EN 13964:2004. In practical terms, this means that the surface of the panels will withstand a ball impact speed of 16 metres per second, whether fixed to the underside of a roof or into an existing ceiling grid. Its an impressive standard to have achieved, as Sandra Fixter from Hodgson & Hodgson confirms: All our wall and ceiling panels have very high standards of acoustic performance. Some environments, however, demand a little more in terms of robustness and durability – sports and leisure facilities are a good example. The tests that SportsPanel has undergone prove that this product offers the best possible impact resistance for these types of application.
SportsPanel is manufactured from high-density, moisture-resistant mineral wool, with a decorative glass cloth fabric on the front face and a non-woven glass tissue on the reverse. Easily cleaned, SportsPanels edges are sealed to prevent dust migration and the panels will not accumulate bacteria, mould or fungus.
