The 12.1 million euro conversion work aims to equip the ship with more advanced features so it can reach out to more people in different parts of the world. Since The Ships Ministry began in 1970, OM Ships have visited over 450 different ports in 142 countries and welcomed 33 million visitors on board.

Logos Hope with a VINGTOR marine communication system will provide increased space and facilities to the crew and an improved quality of welcome to the ships visitors. Moreover, the ship will also have a larger capacity for humanitarian aid work, including a mobile dental clinic and other major facilities.

Bernd Gulker, CEO of OM comments “We want to serve our visitors adequately, but we are constantly faced with our limitations.” Frequently, pressure from large crowds stretching for kilometres, means that less than 20% of guests can attend programmes on board or can communication with crew. The new 12.252 tonne ship, equipped with advanced on board communication from Zenitel Marine VINGTOR, will change all of that.

To bring knowledge, help and hope to an increased number of visitors, Logos Hope crew will use the VINGTOR ASA-101 digital communication system. This integrated on-board system comprises telephone, intercom and talk back facilities integrated with public address, UHF radio, wireless paging and any other system which may be added later.

Dragan Radosevic, Croatia area manager, Zenitel Marine VINGTOR comments “In this special year of celebrating sixty years of manufacturing and supplying high end, quality, marine communication systems, we are pleased to supply OM a system to match the exact needs of the Ministry. The crew will benefit from an advanced trunk line interface which provides perfect communication via shore, sitcom and cellular lines. Alarms and announcements will be distributed via loudspeakers on the telephones and stations.”

Eight trunk lines and 350 analogue lines will be installed and integrated to two Zenitel SPA public address/general announcement units. The 500W power amplifiers incorporate output level indicator LED’s, overload protection and indication, master gain control and tone controls in accordance with SOLAS and Class requirements. The result is a user-friendly and cost effective, integrated solution.
