Appointed by Ateliers Jean Nouvel, a French architect working on the project, Pascall + Watson has been brought on as ‘architect of record’ for the project developed by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC).
The 24,000 square meter complex, costing GBP110 million ($166.7 million), is part of the $27 billion tourist and cultural development project on Saadiyat Island off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
The building will join the Sheikh Zayed National Museum by Norman Foster, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum by Frank Gehry, a performing arts center by Zaha Hadid, and a maritime museum designed by Tadao Ando, to create the Saadiyat Island Cultural District.
The building is slated to reach completion in 2012.
