The £500 million Paradise Street project is transforming a formerly disused and derelict inner city site totalling 42 acres (17 ha), creating 40 new buildings and more than 1.6 million sq ft of retail and leisure facilities.
At Site 7, main contractor Balfour Beatty is creating two mixed use buildings with retail units on the ground and first floors, and luxury apartments on floors 4 and 6 respectively.
Cast iron was specified for the above ground drainage on the residential floors for its many advantages which include high fire resistance, excellent acoustic properties, attractive appearance and unrivalled durability. The EEZI-FIT range additionally offers the most rapid installation available for this type of product with its simple push-together assembly and increased flexibility, with a number of specifically designed fittings for waste connection like single and double branches with up to four boss options and the long tail manifold.
This aspect of the project is also using Saint-Gobain PAM UK’s Ensign cast iron drainage systems to serve the commercial units.
