The 9,160 square foot utilizes the best of green building practices that include utilizing recycled materials for construction. It is energy efficient, eco-friendly and uses both passive and active systems to reduce energy costs.
The systems would include photovoltaic cells, solar water heaters, operable windows, super insulation and a sensitive orientation to the windows that diminishes heat gain in the Florida subtropics.
The company said that their building is being considered for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
Five units from the total nine duplex units are live-work studios with a work space at ground level connected to a studio apartment above. The remaining four upper units are either one or two bedroom duplex units.
