Designed by US-based architectural practice Perkins+Will, the new headquarters of the company will be a 245,000 square feet building, which will be located at the northwest corner of Mercer St. and Westlake Avenue North in South lake Union.
The headquarters will be a six-storey building that will include about 9,000 square feet of ground floor retail space and two levels of subterranean parking. The design of the building will imbibe the historic design characteristics of the Ford and Pacific McKay buildings, including the previously existing terra cotta facades.
The construction of the project will be undertaken by GLY and the project is slated to get underway in the third quarter of 2013, with building completion pencilled for the third quarter of 2015. The new headquarters will accommodate various globally spread operations of the company in one place and increase its scientific programs.
