The project broke ground in 2010. The facility is located on a 1.5-acre site in the middle of the existing Oakland urban hospital campus. It will span over an area of 250,000 square feet. The exterior of the pavilion will possess a glass and steel composition. It will comprise a patient care tower, a basement, as well as rooftop central utility plant. The tower will cover 11 floors consisting of two additional underground levels.
The pavilion will sport a total of 238 acute-care beds. It will also feature private rooms which will allow glimpses of the Bay Area. There will be creation of a new parking garage developed by Overaa Construction as part of the project. The garage will have a capacity to house 1067 vehicles. The facility will also incorporate family-friendly accommodation and green area while being equipped with advanced technology. In addition, it will employ several green measures.
