ETC made the acquisition in order to enter the LED market. Selador’s line-up includes the Paletta fixture, which showcases a blend of seven colors of LEDs; and the Lustr line, which showcases different blend of colors optimized to produce a broad spectrum of whites and tinted colors.
In line with the acquisition, ETC is also launching the latest Selador product-a high-output color-mixing Vivid LED fixture series that is a combination of the Selador x7 color system and the K2 emitters from Luxeon.
ETC will own, manufacture and distribute the Selador product line while Gerlach and Smith will be retained as exclusive consultants. The company also plans to divert a substantial portion of its R&D budgets for the development of LED technology.
The deal also involves taking over Selador’s license to the Philips Color Kinetics patent portfolio, as well as other patents owned by David Cunningham.
