The 2009 Osram Automotive Lighting Design Challenge, announced by Osram Sylvania in association with CCS, one of the world’s preeminent schools of transportation design, is intended to educate future transportation designers on the benefits of advanced Light Emitting Diode (LED) lighting technologies and the design freedom they offer.

Entries were judged on creative execution of the design and the innovative use of LED technology for a total of $4,500 in scholarships. The winning entries were unveiled at a ceremony held at A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education at CCS campus. The top-three winners are: Kisun Shin, Johad Ellis and Cara Kim who won $2,500, $1,500 and $500 respectively.

The Osram Automotive Lighting Design Challenge ran concurrently with CCS’s fall curriculum for second year students in the university’s Transportation Design program. Contest entrants were asked to design a concept for a forward lighting application using Osram LED technologies.
