The competition is staged to design a temporary exterior lighting concept for the exterior of the church youth center at St. Peter’s Church in Frankfurt, Germany. It will be presented as a PLDA Luminale project.

The Light+Building fair draws several thousand visitors from all over the world to Frankfurt. Light+Building 2010 will be held from April 11-16, 2010. The event is used by manufacturers from over 50 countries, including all market leaders, to launch trends and innovations from the fields of lighting, electrical engineering and building automation. As an accompanying event to the fair, the Luminale offers lighting installations in and around Central Frankfurt for the general public and fair visitors to visit and enjoy after an intense day at the show.

A respected international jury will select the best solutions from the expressions of interest submitted; the design concept developed by the overall winner will be realized prior to Light+Building and remain installed from April 11-16, 2010.

PLDA was originally founded as the European Lighting Designers’ Association ELDA+, and is a voluntary federation of lighting designers and lighting consultants who are active on an international scale, their purpose being to increase the reputation of the profession and to establish the profession as such in its own right.
