Architects of Air has designed Mirazozo as a large scale, inflatable sculpture constructed of translucent vinyl and made of labyrinthine tunnels and inspiring spacious domes. Mirazozo makes extensive use of an ‘illuminated seam’ feature where luminous seam lines create a scintillating lattice of light.

The pattern of these neon-like strips induce the viewer’s gaze to shift between different perceptions of the same view, an effect one encounters in the contemplative geometric surface design of Islamic art and architecture.

Mirazozo’s center dome is the largest open space structure that Architects of Air has built, suitable for hosting performances. Inspired by pure forms of geometry, nature and Islamic architecture, Mirazozo was conceived to be modular and to permit compact configurations.

Visitors can walk through an airlock into a space, which is characterized by abundant daylight being transmitted via coloured vinyl. According to Architects of Air, through labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes, visitors move in a medium of saturated and subtle hues. Vibrant reflections of liquid colour drip across the curved walls resulting in a world apart from the normal. The smooth surfaces of inflatable structures are broken down into cones, spheres and cylinders and other infinite combinations.

Architects of Air based in Nottingham, UK seeks to bring a visual surprise and excitement into the environment and to create the optimum conditions where people can be moved to a sense of wonder through the particular phenomenon of luminous colour.
