Jeff Baskin, the library’s executive director said the renovation work began in 2003 when it added 25,000 square feet. As the $3.17 million project ran out of money it left the second floor as open roof space.
The newest renovation turns the open space into a computer room, gallery and coffee shop. The computer room will feature a stained concrete floor to handle spills. The design for the computer room includes lighting, sound system.
The former roof had been changed into second floor which required installation of 16 steel beams in the space. J.L. Shelton and Associates, a design and installation company for libraries relocated 24 foot long steel shelves across the library’s first floor.
