Cherry Blossom Manor is designed to be a new care home that will accommodate up to 77 residents. One of Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Communities, Cherry Blossom Manor is specially designed for those living with dementia and uses colour schemes that easily enable residents to identify areas within the home such as yellow for dining areas. The facility features life skills kitchens, where residents can be involved in everyday kitchen activities; adapted crockery and tableware; and sensory gardens with low risk walkways, to enable residents to engage in everyday simple tasks and pleasures.
The £275,000 ($424,914) interior fit-out has created a home-like feel with furnishings designed with older people in mind, from the sofas in the lounge areas to chairs in the living rooms. A range of communal and dining facilities are featured through out to suit people who enjoy socialising as well as those who prefer quiet activities. Residents’ private rooms have en-suite walk in shower facilities.
AT Jones was contracted by GB Building as one of their tried and tested supply chain contractors to carry out the internal fit-out on the whole care home, including bedrooms and communal areas. Work included plastering, partitioning, floor screening, ceilings and coving work. Externally, they carried out rendering to the high-level section of the perimeter and courtyard.
The facility will meet the demand for high quality nursing and residential services, including dementia care, in the Basingstoke area. AT Jones started work on the scheme in June 2010 and finished on schedule in September 2010.
It is the first fit-out project AT Jones has undertaken for Barchester Healthcare, a national healthcare provider, although they have worked in the past for GB Building Solutions, Kier and Wates on 12 Sunrise healthcare fit-out assignments around the south of England and Wales.
AT Jones is part of the HSi Interiors Group of companies which currently includes Advanced Interiors of Wokingham and Adex Interiors of Hemel Hempstead.
