The project is being run by New Campus Glasgow Ltd, and the development will bring three Glasgow colleges together to create one integrated campus in Glasgow’s City Centre.

Paul Dollin, managing director of Atkins’ design and engineering business, said that the focus was on user experience and how the campus could become a catalyst for transforming education in Glasgow.

The project is being funded by the Scottish Funding Council in partnership with the three colleges: Central College Glasgow, Glasgow Metropolitan, and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies. Atkins, the multinational design and engineering consultancy, will be providing full multidisciplinary design including architecture, civil/structural engineering, fire and transportation engineering.

Building work is likely to begin in early 2012 and is due for completion in 2014, when Glasgow will be hosting the Commonwealth Games.
