Mr. Gehry told local news that the planned development in Brooklyn, New York is likely to be halted.

Bruce Ratner’s $4.2 billion project has already been delayed due to bad economic conditions. In November, Gehry’s Los Angeles-based design firm was forced to lay off all 24 staff assigned to the Atlantic Yards project.

A second phase of the project included a NBA basketball arena, towers, affordable housing and public space, but plans were never finalized.

New York Mayor, Michael Bloomberg said in a media release that the project may still go ahead but on a much smaller scale and without Gehry.
