Keeping Time: Conrad Shawcross at the Roundhouse
The first thing that hits you, as you walk into the newest installation at Camden’s renowned Roundhouse, is a sense of void; a deafening silence envelops as your eyes accustom to the shadowy space. Suspended from the centre of the room is the only illuminating feature in an otherwise completely darkened room. This is British artist Conrad Shawcross’ newest kinetic artwork: Timepiece, a eight-metre wide rotating mechanism, glinting in the dark.

Artist goes to work in an egg
In the 1950s, the British Egg Marketing Board famously urged Britons to ‘go to work on an egg’. Now, artist Stephen Turner is going to work in an egg – in fact an egg-shaped river-going ‘research vessel’ called the Exbury Egg, which has been designed by architects PAD Studio.
UK Government website wins 2013 Designs of the Year award
GOV.UK, the new UK Government website has been named Design of the Year by the Design Museum in London, beating 98 contenders including Thomas Heatherwick’s Olympic cauldron, Renzo Piano’s Shard and a folding wheel by Vitamins.
