The Baltimore Museum of Art renovated its contemporary wing to refresh the space. The new contemporary wing currently features three new exhibits, two interactive galleries and a black box gallery.

The renovation work included structural changes like new roofs, an updated sprinkler system and columns that were removed from exhibits. Few aesthetic elements were also added like, new works of art and a new lighting system.

Designed by Marshall Craft Associates, the gallery has 100 objects that are displayed. The museum includes many changes but few of the signature work remains unchanged like Andy Warhol collection. The renovation work was required to bring the 1994-opened wing up-to-date with current standards.

The museum will also revamp its American and African galleries, along with the lobby and gift shop. The work will be completed in 2014 to mark the museum’s 100th anniversary. The funding for the project is a combination of state, city and private investments. It took 22 months for the work to be completed.
